NOTED Mallee horseman Gavan O’Brien made his final journey in a horse-drawn hearse, as family and friends remembered his zest for life.

Mr O’Brien, who was 71 when he died on November 14, is survived by Teresa, his wife of 49 years, children James and Kerrie, and five granddaughters.
