THE Swan Hill District Health redevelopment works will resume in the new year, with efforts to demolish the old nurses' home building under way.
Once vacant, the site will then be transformed into a new emergency department.
The building's roof and windows were removed last week.
The $48.7 project will more than double the number of existing treatment spaces, set in a new modern building.
It was set to include 15 treatment rooms plus a four-bed short stay unit, a small extension to radiology, a new entry into the hospital with a reception area, new larger waiting areas and a new cafe, as well as staff office and meeting areas.
