Church notes

Anglican

WE have had a busy few weeks.

While we continually offer prayerful support, we have had practical opportunities, too.

Thank you to all the people who staffed the gate at the show.

This was an opportunity to support our community as well as a fundraiser.

The catering group have been serving after funerals. The Cursillo group met for lunch and a reflection, and the Wednesday and Sunday services went ahead with lay leadership due to clergy illness.

The Mothers’ Union group put together several bags of toiletries for women who arrive at our hospital without supplies.

These are some of the ways we work together and serve others locally, nationally and internationally.

Grain Shed

THANK you very much to everyone who packed a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child.

The boxes will soon begin their journey to children around the world. These gifts bring such joy and hope to families and communities.

One young boy, Edouard, in West Africa, received a shoebox and was amazed that someone far away would care about a boy in a dusty country who didn’t have food and slept on the floor, who didn’t go to school or even have a toothbrush.

His shoebox had two toothbrushes in it and he was so happy to be able to give one to his sister.

It’s wonderful to think of the many stories like this and imagine the smiles when the box you packed is opened.

Now it’s Term 4, so our regular meetings are beginning again.

Mainly Music is on Monday mornings with a new start time of 10am.

Grain Shed Youth will kick off on October 14 at 7pm, all high school age young people are welcome.

Grain Shed Youth Ministry will also be hosting a “Tuning in to Teens” group in Term 4. The group is aimed at mums, dads and carers to help them maintain close and open relationships with their young people and to understand adolescent development.

This group is open to anyone in the community. The session will run on a Friday evening, beginning October 21, while youth group is on (7pm-9pm).

To be a part of it, let Liz know by emailing youth@thegrainshed.org.au or call 5032 9449.

October 15 is “Identify Your Spiritual Gifts” workshop, 9.30am-3pm, all welcome.

Come along and take part as Naomi (church development consultant at Churches of Christ, Victoria and Tasmania) and her husband, Bruce Thorne, help us work through and identify our spiritual gifts. Meals included, RSVP by October 9 to reception@thegrainshed.org.au or call 5032 9449.

This Sunday, we meet at 10am and Pastor La’Mont will be speaking on fellowship and following the service there is a shared lunch. All welcome. Grainsheds kids is back on site, desk open from 9.45am.
