Innovative agricultural recycling trial

FARMERS are invited to participate in a trial Circular Agricultural Plastics Economy (CAPE) project.

The trial gives farmers a sustainable option for disposing of their agricultural plastics, diverting them from landfill.

The project will be initially targeting table grape covers, grain tubes, silo bags and tunnel film and will commence via an expression-of-interest process.

This initiative highlights our commitment to driving positive environmental change to build a more sustainable future for our community and the generations to come.

To submit an expression of interest to participate in this trial, visit letstalk.swanhill.vic.gov.au/circular-agricultural-plastics-economy-cape-project

This project is supported by the Circular Economy Councils Fund.

The fund is delivered by Sustainability Victoria under the Victorian Government’s circular economy policy, Recycling Victoria: a new economy.

Wonderful feedback for our region

IT was wonderful to see the municipality buzzing recently with visitors over the long weekend.

I attended the June Racing Carnival, and it was a real credit to our local organisers, bringing so many people to the region to spend money in our motels, venues and shops.

I was immensely proud to have been approached by several visitors throughout the weekend with feedback about the positive changes they had noticed in our municipality since they had last visited the region.

It was wonderful feedback and I took great delight in letting them know we are only just getting started.

Congratulations to Tyntynder Football Netball Club and Swan Hill Football Netball Club for a very successful showcase finals atmosphere day on the Saturday of the weekend and to the Swan Hill Speedway Club for their successful events.

Swan Hill Recreation Reserve Masterplan

I WOULD like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who completed the Swan Hill Recreation Reserve Masterplan survey online recently.

Your feedback will assist us to shape the development of the masterplan.

We received 404 contributions that will be collated and sent to our consultants to influence their masterplanning process and the future of this much-loved and valued resource.

We look forward to continuing to keep the community heavily involved throughout this process.

River Lights launching next week

IF you are stuck for a school holiday activity for the family then look no further: the River Lights events being held over 10 nights at Pioneer Settlement is sure to impress.

River Lights will showcase our region’s rich local history, lighting up the Litter Murray River and dancing through the Pioneer Settlement site, with mesmerising stories of the past – it’ll be a fun experience for the whole family.

For tickets and more information, visit www.riverlights.com.au

Men’s Health Week

LAST week we observed Men’s Health Week, a crucial time dedicated to raising awareness about the unique health challenges faced by men and promoting overall health and wellbeing.

It serves as a reminder of the importance of taking proactive steps toward maintaining a healthy lifestyle and it’s an opportunity to address issues such as heart disease, mental health, and preventative care, which are often overlooked but which are vital for the longevity and quality of life of our fathers, brothers, sons, and friends.

By shining a light on these topics, we hope to encourage more men to take charge of their health and seek the support they need.

I encourage everyone in our community regardless of your gender, age, culture or religion to put your health first every day and let’s foster an environment where health concerns can be discussed without stigma.

Let’s build a stronger, healthier community together.
