Woman charged over Swan Hill house fire

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with lighting a house fire in Fulford Court about 11pm on Monday, according to Swan Hill police.

Three Swan Hill Fire Brigade units managed to save the house by containing the blaze to two rooms, but brigade captain Michael Howard said it had damaged about 70 per cent of the building.

Early reports suggested an explosion and a woman screaming were heard when the fire began. On arrival no one was in the single-storey brick home.

Police and a Powercor crew were also present when the scene was declared safe about 11.33pm.
