DRIVERS caught going up to speeds of 133km/h and 139km/h in the Buloke shire have been slapped with heavy penalties.
On September 23, Wycheproof police Leading Senior Constable Darin Sheahan detected a 61-year-old Sea Lake woman travelling along the Calder Highway in Dumosa at 133km/h.
The legal speed limit on that highway is 110km/h.
She was fined $363 and her license was suspended for three months.
On October 2, Lead-Sen-Const Sheahan detected a 37-year-old Reservoir man travelling at 139km/h along the Calder Highway at Dumosa.
“Despite having a valid reason for being outside of Melbourne, there was no excuse for his alleged speed,” Lead-Sen-Const Sheahan said.
His license was suspended for three months.
Police are reminding motorists travelling on the Calder Highway in the Buloke Shire that speed restrictions are in place between Culgoa and Nullawil due to poor road surface.
