Crash investigation ongoing

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into a two-vehicle crash at Werril Street on Sunday afternoon.

Swan Hill Police First Constable Samuel Beard said a sedan was travelling east on Werril Street, around 2.35pm, when it allegedly drifted into the wrong lane, colliding with a SUV.

“The collision resulted in the SUV flipping onto its left side and ending up through a fence, and the sedan came to rest on the wrong side of the road,” Constable Beard said.

Police, ambulance, CFA and SES crews responded to the accident, and road closures were put in place to safely divert local traffic.

Four of the five people involved in the crash were transported to Swan Hill District Health for further assessment and treatment for injuries.

“While no charges have been issued at this time, the 31-year-old male driver of the sedan is expected to be spoken to in relation to speed and other traffic-related offences for this matter,” Constable Beard said.

“Police wish to express the continued need for vigilance when it comes to road safety and road related trauma, particularly as we near the end of the year and more families are travelling on the roads over the Christmas and New Year period.

“Everyone deserves to be safe on our roads and police will be targeting speeding and other driving related offences within built-up and residential areas.”
