Online images: Police concerned about blackmail threats

SWAN Hill police say they are still seeing children, especially young teenagers, sharing intimate images of themselves with persons they have just met online.

Once these people have the images, a demand for cash can be made with the threat that the image will be distributed. It takes a lot of courage for young people to report such matters to parents and the police.


Mountain bike theft

OFFENDERS stole a blue-and-black Giant mountain bike from the driveway of a home in Barwick Court on Friday, July 26. With information, contact Swan Hill police on 5036 1600.


Smash-grab raids

AN offender stole a wallet after smashing a window of a vehicle parked in Saltbush Drive, Swan Hill, between 9pm on Thursday, July 25, and 5am next day. Between 5.30pm on July 24 and 6am on July 25, a purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in High Street after a thief smashed a window.


Badge snatch

A TRIDENT badge was stolen from the grille of a fawn Maserati parked in various locations in Swan Hill on Thursday, July 18.


House damage

OFFENDERS damaged a house in Stradbroke Avenue by throwing broken pavers at the building about 9.30pm on Thursday, July 25.


Hostile response

A LOCAL driver who stopped in Lake Charm to ask a pedestrian whether he was OK was verbally abused. As the driver pulled away on Kangaroo Lake Road, the male damaged her vehicle.

Police are trying to identify the offender after the incident, which took place about 3.30pm on Monday, July 22.
