Power out after storms

NYAH and Sea Lake were still without power on Monday after severe storms swept through the Mallee on Sunday night causing widespread damage and disruption.

Nyah and Tooleybuc felt the brunt of the storms with Zahra Burford reporting 48mm of rain on her Toolybuc property.

Many areas of the network remain damaged after strong winds and lightning strikes brought down trees onto powerlines.

Towns continuing to deal with outages include Swan Hill, Nyah, Woorinen, Tyntynder South, Sea Lake and Ouyen.

Ongoing storm activity and heatwave conditions are delaying network restoration, and Powercor estimated most areas would have power restored between 7 pm - 11pm Monday night.

Powercor encourages all residents without power to check for updates on their website and for the rest of the community to prepare for further outages, as hot and stormy conditions are expected to continue.

Do not approach any fallen powerlines, assume they are live and report them to Powercor immediately on 13 24 12.
