THE pride of the Swan Hill basketball community continues to build a profile on the national stage.
Tessa Lavey’s WNBL career sees her heading off to Western Australia after signing a two-year contract with Perth Lynx last week.
Lavey, 172cm, who is described as an explosive and creative point guard, has played in the last two WNBL grand finals for Bendigo Spirit, winning the 2014 championship.
She has represented the Opals in Europe and is set to represent Australia again after being last month selected for the World University Games.
Lavey said she was proud to be part of “an exciting time for basketball in WA”.
“I can’t wait to join my new teammates. I’m confident that, as a group, we’ll be able to make a big impact — both on and off the court,” she said.
At just 22, Lavey has already played 83 WNBL games after starting her career as a junior in Swan Hill.
Tessa Lavey is the eighth player to sign for the Perth Lynx ahead of the 2015/16 season.
