Central Murray Football Preview: Tooleybuc-Managatang v Mallee Eagles

TOOLEYBUC-MANANGATANG v MALLEE EAGLES

FRESH off the bye and desperate to make it two wins on the trot, Tooleybuc-Manangatang will run out as favourites when they host the winless Mallee Eagles.

The Saints couldn’t have been more impressive recording their first win of the season against Swan Hill a fortnight ago, with star recruit Josh Williams booting eight goals, and Gareth Grant and Ethan Goldfinch dominating through the middle and across half back.

All three will be crucial to their team’s chance of victory again, along with ruckman Tim Auckland, who had a hard-fought battle against Toby Thoolen in his debut in the red, white and black.

The Eagles’ Angus McKenzie is expected to return from injury, a welcome addition to a side that battled for height against the Swans last Saturday with Andrew McDonald also missing.

The midfield battle is where the match is likely to be decided, with former Jack Betts Medallist Harry Allen starting the season in great touch, along with Beau Bennett and Shaun Harrison, who played his first game in the blue and gold last week and looks a very handy pick-up.

Tooleybuc-Manangatang will back their onballers to win their fair share of contested footy, with Blake Grant, Luke Walsh and Mitch Grant all expected to provide Williams with plenty of opportunities to kick another bag – and secure the Saints their second win of the season.

Tip – Tooleybuc-Manangatang to win by 25 points.
