Horror season to end for Raiders

LAKE BOGA v KOONDROOK-BARHAM

BARRING an unmitigated disaster, Lake Boga will confirm their finals spot for the second straight season with a final round victory over Koondrook-Barham tomorrow.

After resting several key players last weekend against the Tigers, more of the same can be expected against the Raiders, who have one final opportunity to break their losing streak.

It’s been a year to forget for Koondrook-Barham, with injuries to key players and a lack of depth conspiring to derail the first year of a rebuild for the club.

But while the success from a win-loss perspective has been minimal, there are still positive signs for their future with the performances of youngsters Eli Boyd, Will Lake, Nathaniel Leonard and Mason Laursen.

Lake Boga on the other hand is at the other end of the scale, and will be looking to prepare for the finals in the best way possible.

Daniel Dzufer, Lochie Laing, Jacob Simpson, Jake Warren, David Gourdis and Angus Monfries were all managed last week for the Magpies, and whether they return tomorrow or have another week off ahead of finals, remains to be seen.

While the Magpies wouldn’t want to look too far ahead, regardless of who plays, they shouldn’t have any issues in overcoming the Raiders, with a confidence-boosting win just the tonic ahead of next Sunday’s elimination final.

Tip – Lake Boga to win by 55 points.
