MORE than 80 artworks by Swan Hill region’s youth will be displayed as part of this year’s Swan Hill Youth Arts Festival (YAF).
The artworks will transform the vacant Swan Hill arcade shop, at 210 Campbell Street, on Saturday during Market Day from 9am-2pm.
Visitors will be welcomed by acoustic music as they enter the shop.
Swan Hill Rural City Council youth support officer Will Burns said attendees can vote for their favourite piece in the people’s choice award.
“We encourage everyone to come and have a look, even if it’s just for a minute,” Mr Burns said.
“Young people have put a lot of time and effort into the work and it would be great to have the community to see how talented the young people are.”
Those who attend can pick up a pencil and paper and vote for their favourite piece. Each artwork will be numbered.
Mr Burns said the YAF committee, which has about 22 members, have also put together an art piece with artist Carol Webb and David Rough from Bunnings Swan Hill.
“The ambassadors have been keeping everyone on track and encouraging them,” he said.
YAF ambassador Will Garvie said the festival provided a platform for young artists to receive recognition and acknowledgement.
“We want to encourage people to come and join us on the day, and help celebrate the arts in our community,” he said.
Ambassador Toni Mia Scalora said she was looking forward to this year’s event and the opportunity it provides to lift confidence in young talent.
