Murray Valley Highway closed after collision

THE Murray Valley Highway was closed in both directions between Mystic Park and Lake Charm today due to a fatal collision.

Emergency services responded to a two-car collision in Mystic Park just after 1pm.

The male driver and only occupant of one of the vehicles died at the scene.

The male driver, and only occupant, of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were investigating.

Motorists travelling between Kerang and Swan Hill should detour using Kerang-Quambatook Road, Dumosa-Quambatook Road and Donald-Swan Hill Road, allowing extra travel time.

Police asked motorists to avoid the area if possible and follow directions by emergency services workers.

They said the road would reopen only when investigations were complete and the area was safe.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at crimestoppersvic.com.au
