RAIL passengers will have to travel by bus for two weeks from this Saturday due to maintenance works on the Swan Hill train line.
Buses will replace Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill line trains for the entire journey from tomorrow until Wednesday, March 5.
A V/Line spokesperson said the annual maintenance works include replacing about 400 sleepers and 1000 tonnes of ballast around the Swan Hill station.
"We’re replacing hundreds of sleepers and ballast in the yards at the Swan Hill station to ensure we can continue to deliver a safe and reliable service for passengers," the spokesperson said.
"We thank passengers for their patience while these essential maintenance works take place and encourage them to check the V/Line website for coach replacement information."
Asked why services couldn't terminate at Kerang, the spokesperson told The Guardian works were also happening along the Bendigo line.
V/Line said to allow an extra 60 minutes travel time.
The operator said there was limited space for bikes on coach replacement services.
In Melbourne, coaches will arrive and depart from the Southern Cross station coach terminal on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.
A coach replacement timetable is available on the V/Line website.
