FROM hippos and lions, to meerkats and more, 21 life-sized zoo animals are hiding in the Pioneer Settlement until the school holidays end.

Pioneer Settlement operations manager Mathew Edwards said the animals had helped children explore the Pioneer Settlement as they wandered round the area trying to find them.
