DISCS containing many of Woorinen Football Netball Club’s best and fairest photos have been salvaged from the charred remains of the clubroom.
Most of the photos that appeared on the clubroom walls were backed up about five years ago and stowed away in an on-site safe, along with the club’s 2015 best and fairest votes.
They all went within a whisker of being destroyed when the building went up in flames in non-suspicious circumstances on Friday morning.
Some cash kept on site was also salvageable despite suffering some damage.
Tigers president Grant Jones said the club was just at the beginning of a long process of rebuilding.
“We’re starting again,” he said. “It’s a long, slow, drawn-out process. The more we look the more we think about things that have been lost.
“At the moment it’s time to sit back and take stock.”
Mr Jones said the club was grateful to support from Swan Hill Kerang Toyota for providing training gear, Sherrin for supplying footballs, Tyntynder for the use of Alan Garden Memorial Reserve, and other bodies.
