SWAN HILL

LAST Friday saw a very pleasant, sunny afternoon that was enjoyed by those who took part in Friday Frolic.

Once again, there wasn’t a team lucky enough to have the magic number to crack the jackpot open, which now sits at almost $200.

The weather forecast is not so promising for this Friday, however if the BOM gets it wrong, Friday Frolic will go ahead at the usual time of 3pm, although the bowlers will not begrudge the rain that is urgently needed by the farmers.

You will still be welcome to turn up for happy hour drinks, the raffles and a chat.

The Bridge will take place on Friday, August 1 and there is a sheet on the notice board to enter your team of any combination triples, or you can ring Bill King on 0428 324 083.

This event starts at 2pm with names to be entered by 1pm.

You may make a single entry, but this does not guarantee you a game.

M.Balchin has limited spaces left for our clubs Classic On The Murray event, being held Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10, so be quick to phone Mick on 0428 553 913 if you still wish to enter your any combination triples team for this prestigious event, with excellent prize money on offer.

A reminder that our annual membership subscriptions for season 2025-26 are now due and payable at the bar or by contacting the treasurer Stuart Tompsett.

LAKE BOGA

WHAT a great social day for bowls last week when 54 bowlers came out in force for the jackpot at pelican jackpot bowls.

The jackpot stood at $450 and failed to be claimed, with the winners of the bowls competition being Noel Hender, Greg Davis and Harry Whitford, while the runners-up were Rod Wardle, Arthur Threadgold and Peter Holland.

Resting touchers went to Rod Dewhurst, Brian Fowles, Anthony Shields and Grant Davies.

As the jackpot failed to be claimed, it will climb to $540 for this Saturday.

The forecast for Saturday is not looking great and we will make a decision on Friday night whether we will play or not, so please watch the Lake Boga Bowling Club Facebook page for our decision.

Winners of this week’s social bowls were Peter Snell, Nola Bruton and Ron Atkinson, with two wins and a score of plus 6, while the runner’s up were Les Grey, Jean Leech and Rod Dewhurst, with one win and score of plus 16.
