RACECOURSE

RACECOURSE Bowls Club congratulates Alannah Taylor on being part of the Victoria Development squad that played three tests against NSW, with Victoria winning two tests to one.

On Sunday, August 10, Racecourse held it’s Muston Memorial triples event, with the winners Lyndal Taylor, Isaiah Bettess and Alannah Taylor with two wins and 78 points, while the runners up, with two wins and 76 points were Norm Smith, Liam and Kylie Muston.

In third place was Bryan Bice, Graeme Clark (Swan Hill) and Marg Smith with two wins and 74 points.

There was well over $1000 raised for the Cancer Foundation.

The Big Morning Tea was held on Tuesday at the HUB, with 130 people enjoying the morning, with Chloe Keogh, interim chief executive officer of Swan Hill Health the guest speaker.

It was a great fundraiser for the Swan Hill Cancer support group with $3094 raised.

The winners of jackpot bowls on Wednesday were Ron Wolfe, Graeme Clark (Swan Hill) and Marg Smith with two wins and +11 shots, while the runners up, with one win and +11 shots, were Graeme Bennett, Lindsay Toomer (Murray Downs) and Bob McIntosh.

The jackpot was won by Ron Wolfe, Graeme Clark (Swan Hill) and Marg Smith.

This Sunday we have our Ash Roberts Homes any combination triples event starting at 12.30pm, with entries to Kevin Vivian 0427 353 243.

SWAN HILL

THE Classic on The Murray event was held at the Swan Hill Bowls Club last Saturday and Sunday and was contested by 102 players from all parts of Victoria, along with some from NSW and many locals.

Seven games of 14 ends were played over the two days.

After all the scores were checked and double checked, prizes were awarded to –

First place – Mal McLeans combination team from Inglewood and Kangaroo Flat

Second place – Team skipped by Glen McIntosh from Racecourse.

Third place – John Caldwell and Murray Downs team.

Fourth place – Ian Main and Wakool team.

The best game winning teams for each of the seven games were awarded their entry money back and were as follows –

Game One – Luke Hoskin (Bendigo).

Game Two – Brian Mansbridge (Barham).

Game Three – Alan Fagg (Kerang).

Game Four – Mick Holyoak (Racecourse).

Game Five – Graeme Hayes (Kerang).

Game Six – Kerry Jenkins (Murray Downs).

Game Seven – Kevin Reid (Birchip).

Mick’s special award was made to the team of Noel and Debbie Luff from Nagambie and Dave Timmins from Murray Downs.

They were all smiles and there was much laughter, with them receiving a $25 fuel voucher each, sponsored by Tasco.

Classic On The Murray co-ordinator Mick Balchin thanked all for their attendance, with special thanks given to the many volunteers who assisted in making the weekend the great success that it was.

Acclamation was extended to the ladies for the meals they prepared over the two days.

The support from our many sponsors for the tournament was also acknowledged with Swan Hill Bowls Club’s sincere thanks.

Everyone is looking forward to this special event when it is held in 2026.

Friday Frolic will be on again this Friday, with the jackpot sitting at $227.

All are welcome for a 3pm start, with names to be entered by 2.30pm.

Be sure to get your entries in for the RSL Diggers/Opening Day being held Sunday, August 24, which is an any combination triples event starting at 12.15pm.
