Women’s footy festival hits Kerang

THE women’s footy festival will head for Kerang this Sunday, with Round 3 of the Central Victorian FL under-14 girls’ competition set to kick off from 9.30am.

Sea Lake-Nandaly and Woorinen will face off in the opening game, before Birchip-Watchem and Tyntynder meet in a top-of-the-ladder clash at 10.40am. Finally, the Warra Blues will host Swan Hill at 11.50pm – before the Woorinen Youth Girls take to the field at 1.00pm in their Round 3 BJFL under-18 girls match against White Hills.

The Tigers will be out to make it three wins to start the season, following their 44-point win over Eaglehawk last Sunday. Woorinen jumped out of the gates with a four-goal-to-one opening quarter and from that point on were never headed – with Natasha Kelly leading the way with five majors.

To complete the festival of women’s football on Sunday will be the Kerang Women’s team, who will take the field against North Bendigo in their CVFL Women’s game from 2.30pm – with the Blues Women a good chance to break through for their first win of the season against the also winless Bulldogs.
