RACECOURSE

RACECOURSE Bowls Club held social bowls on Sunday in terrific conditions, with Graeme Bennett, Kerry Jenkins (Murray Downs) and Max Parsons (Lake Boga) victorious with two wins and +15 shots.

The runners up, with +4, were Rod Wardle, Som Pascoe (Kerang) and John Ford.

Wednesday’s jackpot was won by Rod Wardle, Helen Frame and Robyn Roberts with two wins and +15 shots, while the runners up were David Jonkers, Arthur Threadgold, and a new bowler Sindhu, who did a great job winning one game with a score of +11 shots.

The jackpot did not go off.

Sunday, June 15, will see the next edition of our next Tasco Triples, with a start time of 12.30pm and casual dress.


SWAN HILL

WEATHER permitting, Friday Frolic will be on this Friday for anyone wishing to participate in a short game of bowls for one hour.

This is a social game and we welcome any interested persons, whatever their bowling abilities may be, with Friday Frolic being an ideal opportunity to give bowls a try.

Entry is $5, with all who play having the chance of winning the jackpot, which has slowly risen to be a nice bonus for one lucky team if your number is drawn out.

Names must be in by 2.30pm for a 3pm start, with hot food, happy hour drinks or a hot cuppa waiting for you in the clubhouse after the game, with raffle prizes also waiting to be won.

Correction to last weeks news, the mini tournament to be held next Friday, June 13, will commence at 2pm, not 3pm, so that the games will be finished before the evening chill sets in.

Enter your triples team or make a single entry by 1pm to be in the draw, with entry being $30 per team or $10 per single for this two bowl triples event.

The usual Friday activities will still take place in the clubhouse after the games and the jackpot draw will be up for grabs.

There will be good prizemoney to be won, with $120 per team for the winners and $60 per team for the runners up.

Don’t let Friday the 13th put you off – many believe it to be lucky.

LAKE BOGA

A PERFECT winter’s day saw 47 players play pelican jackpot bowls last Saturday, with the jackpot failing to be claimed, so it will jump to $198 this Saturday.

The winners were Robyn Jolley, Greg Tate and Amber Moynihan, while the runners up were John McCormack, Phil Parry and Peter Furnell.

Pelican jackpot bowls will be played this weekend on the King’s Birthday long weekend, with names to be in by 12pm for a 12.30pm start, with all welcome.

Please phone the club number on 5037 2301 and leave a message to enter.

Resting touchers were awarded to Marie Miller, Kellie Neil, Peter Furnell and Dawn Holland.

Social bowls winners this week were Ken Hamill, Max Parsons and Barbara Davies with a score of plus 7.

A reminder to members that subs of $150 are now due and payable to the treasurer.

Duty member next week is Ron Atkinson.
